**Destination Specialist - Inbound Travel Consultant**

Our client, a leading destination specialist for Southern Africa, is seeking a skilled and dynamic Destination Specialist - Inbound Travel Consultant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for travel, an eye for detail, and a proven track record in sales and operations within the tourism industry.

**Job Purpose**

**Key Responsibilities**
- Secure business and cost products effectively to ensure profitability
- Maintain and build strong relationships with agents and suppliers
- Develop a strategic approach to increase business opportunities through existing and new agents
- Stay ahead of the market trends and ensure margin control
- Collaborate with the team to meet and exceed sales targets
- Design creative and successful itineraries and proposals for ADHOC groups, Tour Series, and FIT requests
- Capture and confirm bookings using Tourplan
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure better rates, cancellation policies, and FOC’s
- Source new suppliers with competitive pricing and excellent service
- Follow up on sent quotes and ensure successful bookings
- Handle group tours, tour series, and FIT bookings
- Prepare welcome pack documents, co-pilots, and guide documentation
- Manage the 24-hour emergency phone line for immediate support
- Work closely with tour guides before and during travel
- Instruct debtors to raise invoices and assist with invoice queries
- Reconcile supplier invoices for accurate processing
- Work with the debtors’ clerk to resolve collection and invoicing issues
- Reconcile tour guide expense sheets and check guide salary invoices after tour completion

**Additional Responsibilities**
- Participate in supplier training sessions and workshops
- Strive to reduce transaction turnaround times
- Ensure excellent communication and customer care at all stages
- Keep up to date with changes in suppliers, products, and industry events
- Travel on educational trips and familiarization tours

**Required Skills and Experience**
- Proven experience in inbound travel consultancy or related field
- Strong sales and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to design creative itineraries and respond to client needs efficiently
- Proficiency in Tourplan (or similar systems) is an advantage
- Strong financial acumen for managing supplier invoices and reconciliation
- A passion for travel, particularly Southern Africa
