- To support the development and growth of the green and sustainable finance strategy for Nedbank Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB). To effectively support the monitoring of climate related risks and opportunities across CIB by providing effective advice, support, monitoring and oversight to embed appropriate alignment to global best practices. To support the coordination of ESG disclosures and reporting for CIB, advising on implementation of existing and emerging reporting frameworks.**Responsibilities**:

- Keep abreast of regulatory and industry trends in the area of energy, water and climate change to develop strategies to ensure CIB appropriately addresses these issues.
- Understanding of responsible investment, including regulatory regimes applicable to the integration of environmental, social and governance factors into investment decision-making; and of the intersection between climate risk and financial markets.
- Support the development of ESG finance and related strategies across CIB.
- Understand the link between climate-related risks and financial performance.
- Track progress and implementation of the ESG Finance and related strategy, and identify execution risks and propose remedial actions to strategic leads.
- To share innovative insights and critical thinking which constructively challenge business and assist in driving change.
- To support the delivery of the group climate risk programme for CIB together with Risk.
- To support the development and management of an Impact Management Framework which measures and tracks impact across CIB.
- Support the overall ESG disclosure approach and delivery, work closely with Finance and other internal teams to provide best-in-class disclosures across core reporting channels.
- Support the reporting and present accurate and insightful Climate Management Information to stakeholders (i.e. quality reporting).
- Excellent research and analysis skills, and ability to integrate substantial quantities of complex and constantly evolving information of climate change on individual assets, portfolios, markets etc.
- Ability to engage professionally and confidently with a wide variety of stakeholders in the private, public and non-profit sectors, and to build partnerships and manage collaborative initiatives.
- Establish and maintain sound working relationships within CIB and Group stakeholders.
- To assist with building and delivering ESG related training and education programmes to staff to promote climate risk and sustainable finance management knowledge.
- Assist CIB to implement responsible lending practices that ensure the sustainability of our business, and that of our clients.
- Act as a brand ambassador and help to drive cultural awareness of Nedbank’s purpose led brand positioning, and CIB’s sustainability strategy and vision.
- Preferred Qualification- 3-6 years of sustainability work experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Science or any other related business or science field.
- Qualification in the areas of environmental sciences, natural science, and/or geography.
- Master’s degree in relevant field such as environmental management, economics, international development, or policy. Including without limitation ESG/Sustainability
