**Qualification**:B. Ed. Foundation Phase or Diploma in Grade R Teaching

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Prepare the classroom environment, i.e. workstations or learning corners for creative activities, arts and culture, science, technology and interest
- Facilitate learning through play in a non-threatening, relaxed and enjoyable learning environment
- Be at the level of the child and participate in movement and PE activities
- Manage administrative duties
- Attend training sessions
- Create, prepare, distribute, collect and store learning and teaching support material
- Keep an up-to-date inventory of all classroom equipment purchased by the school
- Plan, prepare, and implement instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
- Develop schemes of work and lesson plans
- Plan, prepare and implement play to stimulate gross motor development during park time.
- Observe, evaluate and record learner’s performance and development
- Participate in departmental, school and parent meetings or workshops
- Communicate necessary information regularly to learners, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and learners needs
