Our client, an international mining house, is seeking a Senior Manager: Project Portfolio Assurance, who will support the VP: Project Governance in designing, governing and maintaining project management systems and processes. The ideal incumbent will have experience in project governance or assurance in the mining industry.

**Responsibilities**:

- Providing leadership to project teams by reviewing work and ensuring deadlines are understood and adhered to, and that that project objectives are clearly articulated and understood.
- Reviewing of project status reports and identify early warnings of potential deviations from Board approved targets.
- Working with the study and project managers to re-assess and amend the scope of work requirement, budget and timeline.
- Assisting in determining priorities among project activities.
- Assisting with the governance of the Group’s project and capital management processes.
- Assisting with the design, governance and maintenance of the Group’s policies, standards and guidelines applicable to project investments.
- Participating in and contributing to independent project reviews for projects during the project development stages.
- Analysing the Business units capital spend profiles and identifying trends.
- Review project-related records, including authorisations, change orders, actuals, commitments and forecasts.
- Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management.
- Review project plans and documentation and identify potential study and execution risks.
- Review of project status reports on projects and identify early warning of potential deviations from Board approved targets.
- Investigate project management software for use by project teams.
- Review and monitor project execution plans for major projects.
- Assist in the effective co-ordination of the activities of the study teams to meet project milestones.
- Proactively identify changes in work scope and ensure appropriate planning measures are taken with the study and project managers.
- Involve functional expertise and specialist staff in design reviews and key decisions.

**Requirements**:Qualification and Skill**_ _**
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in the process and extractive industries.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior position working in project governance and assurance or as a project or study manager within the mining industry.
- A degree qualification in a relevant mining or engineering related discipline.
- Sound understanding of components and key drivers of the mining value chain.
