**VACANCY: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER**

Worcester East Water Users Association (WUA), located near Worcester, has an opportunity for a Chief Executive Officer to lead the WUA in ensuring sustainable water management for local agricultural businesses. The WUA plays a critical role in empowering more than 80 farms (servicing around 4 800 ha of water rights) through collaborative water resource planning and distribution, ensuring that every drop supports the agricultural sector. By joining the WUA, the successful individual will contribute to a future where water scarcity is effectively managed, and agricultural prosperity is secured for generations.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the association, working closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement long-term goals and objectives
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including financial management, human resource management and resource allocation
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies and implementing best practices in water management
- Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including members, regulators, government bodies and the community
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, keeping abreast of developments in water policy and technology
- Lead and inspire the association’s personnel corps, promoting a collaborative and inclusive work environment

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/ Mechanical/ Civil Engineering
- Registration as a professional engineer with ECSA will be advantageous
- At least 5 years of engineering experience, of which 2 years were on middle or senior management level
- Proven experience in water and project management will be advantageous
- Valid code EB (8) driver’s licence
- Excellent computer skills (i.e. advanced MS Excel, MS Outlook and SCADA monitoring system)
- Fully proficient in Afrikaans & English

Please note: The job incumbent will be required to work overtime and weekends during peak season and as required.
