**JOB PURPOSE**
The Writer, Editor & Proofreader supports the Communications Officer in all writing, editing and communications activities - both internal and external. He or she helps to ensure that all messaging is aligned to the Raizcorp strategy, adheres to Raizcorp’s house style guide, and is error free and of the highest quality.
**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Key responsibilities**
The Writer, Editor & Proofreader is responsible for
- assisting in the development and implementation of a communications strategy for various audiences
- producing and disseminating communications to various internal and external stakeholders
- writing copy for, among others
- marketing campaigns, both digital and printed
- marketing and sales collateral
- newsletters
- press releases
- entrepreneurial success stories
- client “coffee table books”
- websites
- social media
- editing and proofing of, among others
- job advertisements
- sales proposals
- learning collateral
- process documents
- policy documents
- working with the Digital Strategist to develop, refine, write, sense check and proof digital marketing material, and social media campaigns and posts
- working with the Digital Strategist to develop content that aligns with Raizcorp’s social media strategy
- scheduling interviews with entrepreneurs for success stories, sourcing photos and logos, and writing the success stories
- planning and producing of content for client coffee table books based on strict timelines (including success stories and pagination)
- editing and proofing of content produced by any department to ensure that it is error free and aligned to Raizcorp’s house style guide
- assisting Raizcorp’s proposal writers with writing and editing support for bids or tenders from time to time
- proofing of all printer’s proofs
- working closely with third-party public relations agency to identify media opportunities, including broadcast interviews and sharing of thought-leadership content
- proactively looking for newsworthy stories and content
- working with various internal stakeholders to write entrepreneurial articles and thought-leadership pieces
- acting as a journalist at Raizcorp events
- ensuring that all content and copy is saved, filed, catalogued and archived logically and correctly on the Raizcorp server
**JOB SPECIFICATION**
**Skills, competencies and minimum criteria**
- A tertiary qualification in journalism, corporate communication, publishing, public relations or English is essential.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience in editing, writing or journalism.
- A proven track record in a broad range of communications and writing activities, press releases, websites, marketing campaigns, social media, etc.
- Excellent communications skills including research, interviewing, writing, editing, proofing, copywriting and presentations.
- Experience in writing copy for digital initiatives and marketing campaigns across various social media platforms.
- Experience in working with websites, including producing copy and working with content-management systems.
- Intermediate
- to advanced-level skills in Microsoft Word are essential.
- Some experience in MS Excel and PowerPoint necessary.
- Basic to intermediate skills in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator are highly advantageous.

From time to time, the Writer, Editor & Proofreader may be required to be available for expos, show stands and events on weekends, public holidays and after hours.
**_From time to time, Raizcorp may in its absolute discretion require the employee to perform duties which are incidental to the position into which he or she is appointed._**
**_The employee expressly understands and accepts that this position will require overtime work as and when projects and deadlines require. The employee undertakes, as far as is reasonable for each project, to commit to the successful achievement of project deadlines and submission dates._**

**Salary**: R20,000.00 - R25,000.00 per month
