**Introduction**:
The Boiler Maker Foreman will assist Supervisors and Construction Managers by planning, organising and managing boiler making activities of various crews in his/ her team, in order to achieve daily, weekly and monthly productivity targets as detailed by the base plan or dictated output and progress plans/ schedules whilst following all required safety protocols to protect employees, plant and equipment.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Ensure high standards of safety and quality for all boiler making operations by ensuring that all HSE aspects are adequately covered.
- Assist the Construction Manager in all erection activities on the boiler (structural/ duct work).
- Ensure all racks, bins, and other stores and lay-down equipment are maintained and erected in a serviceable manner.
- Ensure inspection of gas cutting equipment is done before work commences with soap tests on hoses and fittings.
- Ensure inspections associated with boiler activities are done accurately.
- Ensure teams take reasonable precautions as stipulated to minimize hazards to other personnel and equipment during the course of work.
- Study drawings, plans or patterns of structures to be repaired or made before commencement of the project.
- Ensure teams attend daily toolbox talks and sign acknowledgement of hazards as discussed.
- Oversee and assist the Boilermaker Supervisor in all erections of Cable racks, Cable rack supports, fabrication of cable racks and Installation of Electrical and Instrumentation Panels.
- Manage and control allowable man hours for erection tasks and ensure budgets are met and improved.
- Update and assist in the drawing up of construction schedules and properly communicate this to team members in order to ensure common understanding and goals.
- Ensure crews are used on correct jobs for their abilities.
- Manage the time and attendance, performance and general discipline of the crew daily and keep accurate and detailed records with original documents given to IR/HR.
- Obtain necessary drawings for the task ahead.
- Plan tasks and the team’s activities in such a way that it minimizes time and material wastage.
- Organize and finalize all the necessary plant and equipment such as cranes, scaffolding, machinery and tools that are required for your crew to complete the job successfully and ensure that the equipment is in a safe working order.
- Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders for the purpose of receiving instructions, answering questions, scheduling work, carrying out assignments and providing information about work in progress.
- Maintain general housekeeping by ensuring area of responsibility is kept neat and tidy at all times and all departmental records, data and documents are properly filed.
- Provide advice and guidance to team members on boiler making processes and provide a mentoring platform for team members.

**Minimum requirements**:
**Experience**:
- 10 years’ experience in the field of Boiler Making on a Petrochemical / E&I site.
- Excellent knowledge of Cable racks, Cable rack supports, fabrication of cable racks and Installation of Electrical and Instrumentation
- Must be able to read and interpret erection/ construction drawing fluently.
- Must have a good understanding of QCP’s and quality procedures.
- Basic knowledge of Labour, Industrial and Human Relations.
**Qualification**:
- A recognized trade or qualification in the field of Boiler Making with N3 or equivalent NQF Level.
