**ROLE OVERVIEW**:
**Position: Head of Internal Financial Controls**
**Reports to: Chief Financial Officer**
- The Head Group Internal Financial Controls role will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of preventative and detective Controls across a range of business processes to minimise risks and control weaknesses.
- The role will be responsible for performing detailed reviews of anomalies, assessing the root cause of potential exceptions, and supporting remediation efforts.
- This will include assessing internal controls and liaison with business unit financial managers, internal and external auditors, risk management, group audit and systems evaluation.
- Duties will include planning, performance and documentation of financial controls and the reporting and resolution of any weaknesses and shortcomings.
- Primary responsibilities include supporting leadership to ensure internal financial controls are in place, designed adequately and operating effectively.
- Provide strategic risk management from a finance risk process perspective and agree a prioritized list of projects/initiatives and implement these with the purpose of improving internal financial controls and decreasing financial risks.
- Ability to design and implement appropriate financial controls to strengthen the control environment and mitigate company risks.
- Recognize the impact of major external or internal changes to the internal control environment.
- Participate in cross functional groups to implement or enhance controls based on organizational transformations.
- Bring a systematic and disciplined approach to maintain the internal financial control environment.
- Ability to assist the business units financial managers design and execute the testing of internal financial controls and facilitate the related remediation for any control deficiencies identified.
- Develop presentations tailored to audiences at various levels and business functions to communicate internal financial control findings.
- Drive and oversee the automating of internal financial controls and storage of appropriate evidence

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- **Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or, Chartered Accountant (SA)**:

- **Minimum 10 years post qualifying finance experience, preferably with large JSE listed company**:

- **Deep knowledge of best practice internal financial controls that enable the assurance that financial statements are fair and reasonable and facilitate a controls-based audit.**:

- **Interacting and presenting at Exco and Board sub-committee level.**:

- **Implementation of world-class financial processes and systems of internal control.**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: R140,000.00 - R150,000.00 per month
