AMANDLA currently has 9 operational sites nationwide and is currently rolling out more exciting infrastructure projects nationwide. The Set-Up & Construction Department is responsible for land acquisition, development planning, infrastructure design development, construction execution and maintenance.

**JOB SCOPE**

The Operations Director directs and oversee the organisation's DLab Operations in South Africa. Guided by the regional leadership, the Operations Director is accountable for ensuring a comprehensive and cross-functional execution of the DLab precinct model across all sites.

The Operations Director will execute operations plans to achieve organisational objectives efficiently and effectively. The role is responsible for:
Strategic execution, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling operational activities;
Ensuring that processes and practices are implemented effectively throughout operations by monitoring, managing and developing processes across the operations;
Ensuring all operating standards and guidelines for all DLabs are adhered to and best practices and procedures are appropriately integrated into operations;
Managing the DLab Collaborating Partners and other key stakeholders to deliver collectively on the impact (“Development Results”) within the contracted timeframes and budgets;
Overseeing that all construction projects are completed and maintained within the set -time, budget, and required standard.

The role supports the regional Managing Directors in managing the partnership with the Development Bank of Southern Africa as the DLab custodian. In doing so, the role is also responsible for all DLab submissions to and representation in the Operations Meetings and Project Steering Committee meetings with the DBSA.

The role leads the Stakeholder Director in building and maintaining long-term relationships with stakeholders; leads the Infrastructure Director in the timely, cost efficient and high quality planning, executing, and maintaining of DLab infrastructure projects; and directs a group of national managers that operate the DLab programme in South Africa.

**CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE**

**Strategic Planning**
- Responsible for supporting the senior management team in developing and directing strategy toward profitable growth and operation of the organization.
- Develops strategic operating plans that reflect the objectives and priorities of the region.
- Ensuring appropriate operational and financial planning with control systems are in place and complied across operations.
- Be the driving force in identifying and developing new opportunities for the organization to sustain growth.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance to the senior management team by keeping them aware of developments within the region and ensuring that the appropriate policies and procedures are developed to meet the organization’s objectives.

**Operations**
- Drives operational excellence by identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives, analyzing processes and identifying areas of improvement, and implementing strategies to optimize efficiency and effectiveness within the region /organization
- Closely monitoring the operating and financial results against plans and budgets taking remedial action where necessary and informing the senior management team of any changes
- Supports and enforces standards and processes through which to realize the highest level of efficiency possible in converting resources into sustainable social impact programming across all operating units within the region.
- Identify, assess, and liaise with senior management to resolve risks to operating standards and procedures including but not limited to health and safety, fraud, and business interruption across all operating units within region.
- Manages the submission of all relevant documents to the DLab Operations Forum and the Project Steering Committees

- Supports senior management team in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting of DLab operations within the region.
