- 5 Years Desktop IT Technician position available in Durban.: A well-known national Software Development and Media company is looking for a Desktop IT Technician to join their team on a full-time permanent basis for their offices in Durban Core Purpose of The Job: Responsibility to perform operations support activities within the range of corporate network infrastructure, which include proficient use of software and hardware tools, internet techniques, hardware and system architecture and troubleshooting of software and hardware problems. Requirements:
- A+
- N+
- MCSA
- Minimum 3-4 years’ experience, equivalent to an Information Technology Technician with hardware and software support knowledge and experience to troubleshoot end-user functionality issues
- Knowledge of operating systems including:
- Desktop operating systems (Windows 10/11)
- Mac OS
- Active Directory
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
- Knowledge of networking including:
- Switches, Wireless AP’s and cabling
- Knowledge of SQL beneficial
- Driver’s license and either a car or access to a car Key Performance Areas:
- Knowledge of data processing terminology and methodology
- General knowledge of record keeping and monitoring of downtime
- Ability to operate information systems input devices
- Ability to diagnose hardware and/or software problems
- Monitoring and reporting on downtime
- Ability to prepare and install software packages
- Improvement of technical and systems skills
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively
- Knowledge of data communications networks
- Ability to work in environment with adherence to accuracy, time-constraints and deadlines
- Network Environment
- Performs local and remote testing on equipment for diagnosis and resolution
- Identity equipment/operating malfunctions, diagnose and resolve
- Feedback to end-users and manager and/or any other designated person as nominated from time to time by the Desktop Team Leader
- Performs equipment repair, builds cables, replaces boards and components to identity and remedy failures
- Preparation to install computers and other equipment, including connections to the data communications network
- Preparation and installation of software and peripheral devices
- Assists in diagnosis and resolution of software problems
- Implement system specifications and provides ongoing maintenance to optimise functionality of devices, software, and related equipment such as scanners, printers and graphics equipment
- Perform user administration
- Maintains the telephone system
- Performs minor maintenance to equipment (i.e. printers.)
- Follows procedure to ensure system and equipment security and protect file integrity
- Report on equipment malfunctions to IT manager and may log call assistance with vendors
- Assist end-users with operation and equipment problems
- Creates backup files
- Project Support
- Install desktops and systems for business projects (on-site, as well as off-site)
- Provide support on business projects (not limited to business hours solely)
- General I.
T Administration
- Liaise with External Service Providers for support
- Assists with troubleshooting, backup and archiving of user and server data
- Recording, tracking and reporting of inventory management of software, hardware, licenses and other IT supplies in accordance with policies and procedures
