**SUMMARY OF POSITION**

The Safety Officer is responsible for all administration, inspection, training, and scheduling of meetings with regards to all safety, health, environmental, and quality functions related to the project. He/she is also responsible for upholding the Laws, Regulations and Practices of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and the Construction Regulations of 2014.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
1. **Education & Certification**:

- **SACPCMP registration** as a **Construction Health and Safety Officer (CHSO)**.
- First aid and basic firefighting certification..
- Completion of **SAMTRAC** or similar safety management training programs.

2. **SACPCMP Registration**:

- Registered as a **Construction Health and Safety Officer (CHSO)** with the SACPCMP.
- Compliance with SACPCMP's professional development requirements for juniors.

3. **Experience**:

- At least **five (5) years** experience as a **Construction Health and Safety Officer on Construction** project of a similar nature and shall be registered in good standing with the SACPCMP as a Construction Health and Safety Officer (CHSO).

4. **Knowledge**:

- Understanding of the **Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)** and **Construction Regulations (2014)** in South Africa.
- Familiarity with health and safety procedures specific to construction sites.
- Basic knowledge of risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident investigation.

5. **Skills**:

- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and interacting with team members.
- Ability to assist with the implementation of safety plans and procedures under supervision.
- Basic auditing and inspection skills.
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.

6. **Physical & Personal Requirements**:

- Physically fit to handle site visits and inspections, with the ability to work in outdoor and sometimes challenging environments.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to health and safety management.
- Eager to learn from senior safety officers and professionals.

7. **Licenses & Permits**:

- A valid driver’s license and own transport is required.
- Familiarity with SACPCMP's code of conduct and ethics.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary
Contract length: 6 months
