Here at **Parker Steel **we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced **Buyer** to join our busy procurement department based at our satellite office in **Durban**.

You will be working on a **full time, permanent basis, 40 hours per week Monday to Friday** and in return, you will receive a **competitive salary of R15,000 per month dependent on experience**

**The Role**

As part of an experienced team, you will report to the Purchasing Director to support the Purchasing function.

**Roles and Responsibilities will include**:

- Procurement of product categories under your control, ensuring all products within your area of responsibility are meeting or exceeding planned performance. This will include meeting nil sock / below minimum / delivery targets
- Planning stock purchases in accordance with Company guidelines
- Scheduling of deliveries & progressing of orders
- Monitoring and recording daily performance indicators including Maintaining Critical Stock, Supplier Assessment / Performance, Quality issues with Suppliers
- Booking in deliveries and dealing with discrepancies
- Managing contracts, projects and other ad hoc purchases assigned to you
- Negotiation with suppliers / best prices / rebates / early settlement discount
- Problem solving and thinking outside the box ensuring improvements are driven through
- Ensuring a free flow of information is maintained with the Purchasing Director and key stakeholders

**The Person**
- Proven purchasing experience in a stakeholder focused role
- Excellent communication skills. The ability to listen to, engage with and influence key stakeholders
- Excellent negotiation and Supplier Relationship Management skill are key
- A positive attitude with a desire to develop and progress
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Be proactive and able to drive your own development
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Excellent MS Office skills, in particular Excel
