Shift Boss

Our client in the mining sector, is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to fill **three Shift Boss positions** at underground coal mining operations in Sigma and Secunda. These roles offer an excellent opportunity for mining professionals with strong leadership skills, safety awareness, and operational knowledge to contribute to a high-performance team.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Supervise daily underground operations and lead production teams effectively
- Ensure compliance with the **Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA)** and carry legal accountability under **2.15.1 appointment**:

- Conduct thorough **daily underground inspections** and enforce SHE standards
- Drive productivity while maintaining cost-effective operations
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and on-the-job training to crews
- Ensure discipline, safety compliance, and operational excellence within your section
- Oversee **belt installation** and **seal construction**:

- Prepare and submit accurate **production and safety reports**:

- Manage ordering of materials and obtain quotes for new projects
- Report directly to the Operational Manager

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Minimum of **2 years' experience as a Shift Boss** in underground coal mining
- (or 5 years' experience as a Miner in underground coal environment)_
- Valid **Underground Coal Blasting Certificate**:

- Valid **Driver’s License**:

- Appointment-ready for **MHSA 2.15.1 legal responsibility**:

- Valid **Gas Testing Certificate** (8 gases)
- Valid **First Aid Certificate**:

- Demonstrated experience in **belt and seal construction**
