The repositioning of Supply Chain aims to deliver a strategic commercial front-end that will take the lead in delivering sustainable value to the business. The focus of the global commercial teams (Directs & Indirects) will be on key strategic supplier partnerships, supplier innovation to address technical and sustainability business challenges/opportunities and associated global framework agreements. To create sustainable value, value creation strategies will integrate more traditional commercial value levers with broader technical, safety and sustainability elements that enable the Living Mine. Key sustainability elements include communities, circular economy, carbon neutrality, waterless-mining, and the commitment to sourcing responsibly.

As part of the Global Category Management Team, this role will be responsible for Strategic Category Management through relevant, impactful, innovative category strategies aligned to business requirements and an in-depth understanding of market dynamics and potential business impact. A key focus of this role is to develop strategic supplier partnerships that drive innovation and sustainable value, acting as a trusted advisor to the business, ensuring that Anglo American becomes a Partner of Choice.

**Job Description**:

- Support the implementation of indirect category strategies including utilities, renewable energy and professional services with the aim of maximising sustainable value for the business whilst developing holistic strategies and strategic partnerships that supports our technical, sustainability and financial ambitions and ensuring effective execution of end
- to-end category management activities, including sourcing contracting and contracts management activities.
- Translate the global Supply Chain business strategy into the area specific strategy, critical tasks, performance targets, plans and budgets with consideration of risk identification.
- A key aspect of the role is interfacing with the regional BUs (for planning, reporting, demand management, escalations)
- Responsible for both the South African and Australian portfolio of indirect categories including utilities, renewables, energy & water and professional services, for helping to develop and deliver integrated, medium to long term category strategies and business cases that enable sustainable value; strategies to ensure security of supply; supplier partnering that drives innovation and value; contract life-cycle management (with contract administration); as well as supplier and contract performance management
- Execute local service agreements and statements of work.
- Develop and coach a team of collaborative commercial professionals with deep category, business and industry knowledge.
- Collaborate with internal technical and broader Supply Chain Managers in the development of value creation strategies, business cases and joint supplier engagement priorities.
- Facilitate the development of elevated strategic supplier partnerships that enable co-innovation and development of cutting-edge solutions to our business challenges with a strong focus on ESG.
- Establish supplier/contractor relationships that position Anglo American as partner of choice and manage performance to ensure full value-in-use.
- Ensure that indirect category strategies, supplier selection criteria and agreements clearly define safety, health and sustainability performance standards and oversee the implementation and performance monitoring of these.
- Provide area specific input to commercial planning activities (frontloading, commercial planning, inclusive procurement pipeline development) to ensure delivery to plan and schedule.
- Ensure that all activities relating to indirect category management, sourcing and contracting events are planned, scheduled, resourced and executed in a timely and visible manner.
