Tiler/ Schemer/ Plumber

Our company seeks to employ highly skilled and experienced Artisan Tiler/ Plumber and a Schemer who are well rounded individuals, who takes pride in their quality of work and cares for delivering excellent customer service.

Job requirements:

- Registered at the BIBC 
- Three (3) years proven experience. 
- Driver License (Must Have)
- Clear criminal Record
Tiling Duties:

- Inspecting and interpreting plans
- Laying out work while measuring and marking surfaces
- Preparing work areas on floors and walls by removing old tiles, adhesive and grout; filling gaps, crack and holes; and ensuring all surfaces are clean
- Making tiles lie flush with corners, edges, pipes and fittings using tile-cutting tools
- Ensuring all tiles are spaced and aligned correctly
- Grouting tiles and cleaning the surface of excess grout once complete
- Waterproofing tiles with specialised products and techniques
- Working out how many tiles and how much adhesive you’ll need for a particular area
- Cutting tiles to a certain size or shape with hand-cutters or bench-mounted tools
- Preparing surfaces by levelling off with plaster, sand or cement
- Decorating and protecting floors and walls using all kinds of tiles (including ceramic, clay, slate, marble and glass)
- Laying intricate mosaic tiles
- Working in client’s sites, homes or businesses.
- Measuring the area that must be tiled or marbled to determine stock requirements.
- Identify and rectify wall and floor tiling defects.
- Providing line manager with accurate quotes for the intended job.
- Ordering stock supplies and gathering tiling equipment.
- Cutting and shaping tiles or marble to size.
- Cleaning and leveling the surface area.
- Cleaning off excess grout and conducting post-installation inspections.
- Signing off Clearance Certificates or completion lists.
- Carry out programmed and maintenance work within domestic premises.
- To be multi skilled in various other trade disciplines.
- Carry out routine safety checks of plant and equipment.
- Drive and be responsible for a Departmental vehicle in accordance to the Department's Regulations /instructions.
- Complete all necessary associated work documentation & obtain Client's signature for completed work.
- Liaise with Client/customers when arranging and carrying our work, having full regard to their needs.
- Work from written and verbal instructions, including drawings, diagrams, sketches, calculations using measuring equipment where appropriate.
- Assess, plan and request parts and materials required to carry out the work.
Plumber Duties:

- Interprets blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials
- Installs pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, steam, air, or other liquids
- Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation
- Assembles fittings and valves for installation
- Modifies length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed for a building
- Installs heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters
- Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems
- Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes
- Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts
Schemer duties:

- Examining and priming surfaces for plastering.
- Selecting the appropriate plastering materials for different sites.
- Protecting non-plastering surfaces with appropriate materials.
- Fixing and repairing previous plastering work when necessary.
- Reporting any structural issues to the site foreman.
- Mixing and preparing mortar, plasters, and other finishes.
