**Personal Lines Underwriter**

**(Johannesburg & Cape Town)**

Our client, a leading and established Insurance Broker with offices nationally, is currently recruiting for Personal Lines Underwriters in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Our client offers an entrepreneurial, young and vibey work environment with opportunity for self-development and growth.

**Role Purpose**

Provide stakeholders with effective and efficient personal lines underwriting services according to the required standards and procedures to retain existing clients and secure new business in support of the business strategy.

**Responsibilities**:

- General enquiries such as but not limited to cover, products, processes etc.
- New Business, Renewals, Endorsements
- Underwrite policies according to the underwriting guidelines
- Conduct risk assessments and decide to accept or decline risk
- Rate policies in keeping with underwriting guidelines
- Draw up and send quotes
- Request, obtain and/or provide clients with all required information and/or documents
- Arrange surveys and reinsurance
- Analyse clients’ portfolios
- Upsell cover to clients where appropriate
- Cancellations
- Follow retention processes
- Confirm cancellation request with the client
- Cancel the policy on the system
- Refunds
- Raise invoices
- Request refunds from line manager electronically
- Ensure productivity targets are met
- Contribute towards and ensure continuous improvement in own and team performance
- Adhere to company mandates
- Participate and contribute to ad hoc projects
- Report any suspected fraud, misrepresentation and/or dishonesty
- Keep accurate record of own activities

**Minimum Qualifications and Skills**:

- Matric or equivalent
- RE5
- FAIS Compliant (credits and/or full qualification)
- 2 years’ experience as a Personal Lines Underwriter
- 2 years’ experience working in a client services environment
- Computer literacy

**Salary**: R20,000.00 - R30,000.00 per month
