Plant Room Handyman

**Introduction**

Grain Field Chickens, a subsidiary of VKB Agriculture (PTY)Ltd, is a dynamic role player in the integrated broiler industry with an abattoir in Reitz in the North Eastern Free State. We offer you the opportunity to establish yourself within a professional, corporate environment in the countryside.

The incumbent will be responsible for all upkeep duties inside the plant. This will also include assisting the Refrigeration Technician with assembly and disassembly of machinery.

**Requirements**:

- Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
- N2 Electrical or Mechanical Qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years’ working experience in a similar role.
- Experience in the refrigeration field would be an advantage.
- An Ammonia safe handling license required.
- Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment.
- Must be able to work in a cold environment.
- A willingness to work overtime, incl. shifts and on weekends when required.

**Duties and responsibility**
- Independently perform routine and repetitive maintenance tasks.
- Lubrication and cleaning of machinery and ice build-up.
- Maintain a clean workshop environment.
- Maintain a clean refrigeration plant room.
- Complete tasks timeously whilst ensuring a high level of craftsmanship.
- Perform safety inspections and complete reports.
- Assist Refrigeration Technician on major breakdowns.
- Must be knowledgeable about all other safety requirements.
- Perform any other duties as may be required by management.
