We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented **Legal Practitioner** to join our Group Corporate Services team. This role will support a diversified group of companies operating primarily in the highly regulated short-term insurance industry, providing expert legal guidance and operational legal support across various legal domains.
**Contracts & Policy Drafting**
Draft, review, and negotiate:
- Commercial and supplier agreements
- Insurance policy wording and endorsements
- Leases, sale agreements, corporate resolutions
- Employment contracts, SLAs, MOUs, NDAs
**Legal Advisory & Risk Management**
Provide sound legal advice on matters relating to:
- Insurance law
- Contract and commercial law
- Company law, including complex group structures
- Property law, leases, and business acquisition
- CPA, POPIA, and relevant regulatory frameworks
**Dispute Resolution & Litigation Support**
- Provide support in a broad range of disputes including, but not limited to, employment, commercial, and regulatory matters
- Interact with and brief external legal counsel on complex litigation and dispute matters
- Chair disciplinary hearings where required and prepare documentation for CCMA and other forums
- Support internal investigations and manage legal correspondence related to disputes
**Corporate Governance & Business Structuring**
- Support business registrations and amendments to MOIs
- Maintain board resolutions and secretarial documentation
- Assist with due diligence during mergers/acquisitions
**Regulatory Support**
- Collaborate with the Head of Governance, Risk, and Compliance to ensure legislative alignment
- Interpret new legislation and its implications on operations
- Participate in governance and risk and support policy development
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- LLB Degree (Essential)
- Admitted Attorney (Advantageous)
- 2-4 years’ experience in a corporate or advisory environment
**Key Competencies**:
- Exceptional legal drafting and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective research and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication (written and verbal)
- Ability to manage diverse legal matters independently
- Collaborative team player with multi-disciplinary stakeholders
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal systems
