Technical Lead

What will you do?

We are looking for a motivated, intellectually curious, and communicative tech-lead for our new and exciting venture. In this role you will play an integral part in defining and driving the technological vision for the company. You will also be accountable for the architecture, design, code quality, system stability and resiliency of the area you are leading. You will report directly to the CTO and support them in establishing a team culture which promotes and celebrates experimentation, agility and collaboration and setting a sustainable pace for your team’s work.
As part of this exciting new venture, you will work on challenging, thought-provoking work daily. You will work with a team of like-minded, driven individuals and be exposed to a wide variety of Senior Santam, Sanlam and external stakeholders.
What will make you successful in this role?

Support the CTO in defining and driving the technological vision for the venture
Work with the leadership team to set clear priorities and goals and timelines for IT management and production, balancing the long-term and immediate needs
Make infrastructure decisions, ensuring technical excellence, versatility, safety, resiliency and scalability in the architecting and engineering of product solutions
Manage and oversee the delivery of all engineering and technology solutions
Present reports on the company’s technology status, goals and progress to venture leadership
Work with the CTO and COO to manage technology budgets and time frames
Ensure all technology practices adhere to regulatory standards
University degree in computer engineering, computer science or related field science with 7+ years relevant industry experience
Knowledge and Experience

University degree in computer engineering, computer science or related field science with 7+ years relevant industry experience
Project management experience, including setting deadlines, creating estimates, and QAing team’s work
Familiar with server-side development in Python, AWS lamda
Experience ingesting, creating and managing APIs
Familiarity with front-end frameworks (React.js, React Native)
Extensive knowledge of software engineering principles
Experience working in agile/iterative software development teams, with an emphasis on self-organisation and delivery to agreed commitments
Ability to actively acquire new knowledge and skills and champion new methods, digital systems, and processes to improve performance Skills
