Chief Chemist

Position: Chief Chemist

Location: Durban

**Salary**: R40, 000 to R50, 000 Per Month

**Requirements**:

- Grade 12
- Degree in Industrial Chemistry
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the chemical detergent industry
- Working knowledge of detergent Chemistry and product formulation / development
- Understanding of surfactant and antimicrobial products and emulsions
- Understanding of production processes for industrial and specialty products
- Working knowledge of QA and ISO systems related to the chemical industry
- Experience / knowledge of running plant trials in a factory environment
- Knowledge of accounting system will be an advantage (Syspro)
- Valid drivers license and own transport essential

**Responsibilities**:

- Plans, directs, and manages the full laboratory function
- Co-ordinates and directs research and development, product chemistry, optimized and accurate chemical manufacturing processes, ingredient and product analysis and verification, problem identification, and modification of formulas
- Co-ordinates scaled up plant manufacturing processes
- Prepares and updates safety documents for the company products
- Interprets results of laboratory activities
- Liaise with suppliers regarding technical matters
- Responsible for systems inputs and Change Management
- Build and maintain product formulation data base

**Experience**:

- Chemical Detergent: 10 years (required)
