**Job Description**:

Rockwell South Africa is currently seeking the services of a highly competent Engineering Team Lead to join our Randburg office. The incumbent will be responsible for managing a team responsible for successfully planning, controlling, and managing engineering deliverables to ensure that customer needs are met predominantly in the automotive space.

**Responsibilities**:

- Analyzes customer's requirements to determine the optimal control system solution and determines applicable hardware and software control configuration/architecture
- Performs conceptual hardware systems design, determination of control system strategy to meet customers’ requirements while complying with industry codes/standards and assure that personnel/machinery safety practices are implemented
- Oversee integration of 3rd party hardware and control systems
- Write technical specifications and project reports as required
- Visit 3rd party suppliers and/or panel shops to assess progress, provide technical assistance and carry out inspections
- Carry out internal and customer system testing
- Provide on-site control system start-up as required.
- May participate in development of business team strategic plan.
- Performs all aspects of delivery/technical functions for customer projects, including some commercial responsibility.
- Responsible for assigning resources for execution of projects working with PM to maintain targets.
- Responsible for process improvement activities within assigned business scope.
- Responsible for coaching and development of direct reports.
- Typically manages 5 -10 professionals and coordinates activities with support teams and other capabilities.
- Anticipates the need for change and supports and promotes company-wide programs, strategies, and initiatives.
- Leads efforts of project personnel on complex projects.
- Coaches and helps develop less-experienced engineers assigned to projects.
- May lead internal project process improvement efforts.
- Responsible for resource planning, assigns engineers to projects
- Works with direct reports to address training needs.
- Creates an environment conducive to successful team interaction.
- Supports an environment conducive to customer satisfaction.
- Responsible for resource scheduling to meet project plan requirements.
- Negotiates change orders with customers.
- Serves as the primary interface with customer, sales, and other Rockwell Automation entities for assigned projects.
- Must have excellent negotiation skills.
- Supports regional and global business managers in strategic and tactical initiatives.
- Supports regional and global business manager in pre-sales support of strategic customers globally.
- Supports regional and global business manager in post-sales support of strategic customers globally.
- Responsible for the plan, budget, structure, schedule and staffing for projects which are of significant and strategic importance to the customer and corporation.
- Builds partnerships at the business management level of key customers.
- Responsible for following all applicable corporate, company, governmental and regulatory policies, and procedures as appropriate for this position.
- Must have excellent negotiation skills.

**Minimum** Requirements**
- BSC Engineering discipline or equivalent knowledge
- Legal authorization to work in South Africa required
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience
- Automotive control and/or information experience
- Further education in engineering, software, or business administration.
- Extensive experience with direct customer contact.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged
- Excellent conflict resolution skills.
- Available and willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays to meet business commitment
