**Job description: Fitter**

ACTIVE FOUNDRY: Manufacture and distribution of cast steel, low alloy steel & spheroidal graphite iron castings including associated products, components, wear parts and ground engaging tools for the valve, petro-chemical, power, construction and mining industries of Southern Africa.

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**
- Create / update a suitable maintenance schedule.
- Perform system maintenance according to maintenance schedule. Must be able to establish, implement and modify predictive and preventative maintenance scheduling systems.
- Conduct diagnostic testing on systems that malfunctions to determine the root cause of the malfunction.
- Trouble shooting and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Replace defective and/or damaged components as needed.
- Determine the specifications of the components to be constructed by analysing the blueprints for mechanical systems.
- Construct structural components from raw materials.
- Inspect fabricated components to ensure that the components are the correct size.
- Fuse structural components using correct welding techniques and equipment.
- Must have practical experience to use cutting torches and power saws confidently.
- Comply to ISO 9001 standard.
- Must be able to provide technical guidance to other maintenance employees.
- Ensure materials are not wasted.
- Other duties as required or requested.
- Ensure compliance to safety regulations and wear the correct PPE for the various areas you work in or may be exposed to and ensure that working conditions is ergonomically set up to avoid unnecessary body strain.

**Requirements / Qualifications**
- Must have a valid red seal.
- Must be able to communicate clearly in English.
- Practical foundry experience is a must.
- Must be able to work without guidance or supervision.
- Fault finding and analysing skills are required.
- The ability to work under pressure.
- Must have own transport.
- Computer literate.

**Job Type: Permanent**
