Baker needed for Wine Farm restaurant

Busy winelands  restaurant situated on a beautiful estate just outside franschhoek is looking for an experienced baker who can deliver consistent high-quality products and assist the head pastry chef with new product development and cost management for their department.

The estate is also home to a high-end boutique and a boutique winery making handcrafted int award-winning wines.  The restaurant forms part of the estate and seats up to 40 guests in both a relaxed and refined atmosphere.

Minimum requirements:

- Own Transport
- Formal Chef/Hospitality qualifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- 2 years experience in a similar position.
- Must be able to bake bread from scratch
- Must have an understanding of patisserie
- Must be able to successfully run a section
- Must have a valid work permit (if applicable)

Key Areas of Responsibility:  
- Check products for quality and identify damaged or expired goods.
- Evaluate quality of food ingredients or prepared foods.
- Operate cooking, baking, or other food preparation equipment.
- Check the quality of raw materials to ensure that standards and specifications are met.
- Check equipment to ensure that it meets health and safety regulations and perform maintenance or cleaning, as necessary.
- Monitor equipment operation to ensure proper functioning.
- Clean production equipment.
- Determine food production methods.
- Prepare or maintain inventory or production records.
- Record operational and production data.
- Develop new recipes for baked goods.
- Develop and train staff
- Ensure staffs’ appearance adheres to company standards
- Ensure the look, feel and hygiene of the kitchen adheres to company standards
- Ensure staff over deliver on their areas of responsibility -- Lead by example and in doing so, adheres to the company rules and regulations
- Communicates effectively
- Values and respects staff’s input
- Encourages and supports team work
