Iso Compliance and Health and Safety Specialist

**Key Job Purpose**:Create, implement and maintain an overarching health and safety framework, supported by clear and consistent policy and process. Drive compliance and maintenance to ISO standards for 9001 and 45001.
**Tasks and Duties**:
- To assist and support the Risk and Compliance Manager to ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance to the company standards for health, safety, environmental and quality, whilst implementing ISO standards to ensure maintenance of best practice.
- Define and support existing and emerging health and safety and other regulatory compliance requirements across the organization.
- Develop and manage the annual compliance work plan that reflects the organization's unique characteristics.
- Coordinate with company management to identify potential health and safety and compliance risks
- Implement OHS policies and procedures to uphold laws and regulations and monitor the company’s adherence to those policies and procedures.
- Regularly review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation
- Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
- Record and investigate incidents to determine causes
- Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics
- Standardize best practice health and safety in order to remain compliant.
- Manage risks and safety based on defined DIFR compliance targets
- Compile and maintain relevant registers to ensure compliance.
- Oversee and drive the compliance of acquisition companies to Health and Safety standards
- Take overall responsibility for site safety compliance and manage site safety resources adequately
- Evaluate existing processes for new business units and propose ideal/ improved compliance practices
- Conduct regular equipment inspections.
- Conduct regular inspections of quality standards for site contractors and consultants
- Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
- Coordinate and analyse all supplier questionnaires that come into the business
- Initiate and organize HS and ISO training of employees and executives
- Practice and promote safe working techniques.
- Drive safety awareness campaigns to promote compliance and accountability
- Conduct regular staff meetings to share best practice techniques.
- Maintain and actively pursue new requirements for ISO certification standards related to ISO 9001 and 45001.
- Ensure that there is an active policy drive between different functional areas in order to comply to ISO 9001 requirements.
- Conduct both ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 audits within the business and identify areas of non-compliance within the businesses suggesting improvements where possible
- Manage the full reporting process for Health and Safety and ISO compliance
Involvement in ongoing internal projects within Company as defined by Senior Management
**Qualification and Experience**:
Qualifications:
- BSc/BA in law, finance, business administration or a related field BSc/BA in safety management or any related field.
- Accredited Health and Safety qualification
Ideal:
- Post graduate degree in law, finance, business administration or a related field
- Professional certification (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)) is a plus
- NEBOSH certificate accreditation
Experience Required:
- 4-5 years’ experience in risk management/ Health and Safety and ISO implementation
- Valid Health and Safety competency certificates
- Providing direction and oversight and be able to help guide the team in the assessment of control deficiencies while assisting in developing effective remediation plans.
Ideal:
- 6-8 + years in a compliance role for a company with more than 200 employees
- 5 years in an ISO related role
- Experience of formulating, implementing, and revising H&S policies and procedures
Minimum Training
- ISO accreditations (9000, 45001)
- POPIA
- OHSHA
Ideal:
- ISO 27001 accreditation
- Environmental management and safety
- IOSH accredited Managing safely training courses
**Knowledge required**:
- Good knowledge of legal requirements and procedures
- Knowledge of ISO standards, and compliance to process
- Knowledge of how to maintain a strong compliance framework for a growing team.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislations and procedures
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
- 60% scope on ISO implementation, maintenance and support (9001, 45001)
- Site health and safety compliance
