To provide a proactive, in-house Tax Risk Management service to FirstRand Group Insurance (Life & Short Term) entities within the FirstRand Group.

**responsibilities**:

- Attending, and providing Tax risk insight to, deal conclusion forums in relation to transactions or structures which impact on FirstRand Life Assurance and other insurance entities within the FirstRand Group
- Escalation of Tax issues to the Head of Insurance and Asset Management Tax where necessary
- Managing Tax related projects as and when the need arises
- Ability to ensure relevant systems are developed in compliance with Tax legislation
- Ability to support business areas and relationship managers within FirstRand Life Assurance
- Coordinating Tax training and update sessions for FirstRand Life Assurance and other insurance entities within the FirstRand Group
- Actively lobbying National Treasury and SARS in relation to industry Tax matters
- Actively participating in industry forums, such as ASISA
- Communicating changes to local Tax legislation and judicial decisions to FirstRand Life Assurance
- Assisting with the review of all external tax reporting for FirstRand Life Assurance, including IT3’s and DWT
- Monitoring compliance with Tax legislation within FirstRand Life Assurance, both locally and internationally (including a detailed review of all local Tax returns)
- Communicating and managing the Tax Risk Management and Compliance Framework for FirstRand Life Assurance, as well as appropriate Tax Risk Management processes and policies within FirstRand Life Assurance
- Providing Tax advice to FirstRand Life Assurance and other insurance entities with the objective of optimising the Tax and risk profile and identifying Tax saving opportunities
- Ensuring that any FirstRand Life Assurance transaction, product or query, which has other tax implications, such as Value-Added Tax or Employees’ Tax implications, is discussed with the relevant Tax experts within FirstRand Group Tax
- Identifying Direct Tax risks within the FirstRand Life Assurance business and finding appropriate solutions
- Reviewing, advising and making recommendations in respect of the Direct Tax implications on life, short term and investment products;
