**Job Purpose**:
To manage, develop and control special programs in ensuring that rural/urban waterborne/on-site
sanitation systems and ablution facilities in informal settlement, schools, business development,
economic development, tourism is optimally developed and maintained within Sanitation
Operations Department.

**Key Responsibility Areas**:
Manages the co-ordination of public participation process of local stakeholde.rs that are
impacted on by strategic planning projects
Management, monitoring, training, and development of staff.
Controlling the operations and maintenance of more than 2000 informal Community Ablution
Blocks, 200 Public Ablution Blocks, 1000 Chemical Toilets, emptying of 200 000 VIP’s and
UD’s within municipal areas.
Understanding the various contractual system available.
Ensuring that all staff are familiar with the relevant financial regulations.
Participating in various meeting (council, internal and external forums, business, public,
international associations) and provides specialist professional advice, comments or options
on matters affecting or concerning the functionality.
Communicating and consulting with the relevant stakeholders, participating in various meeting

Providing strategic management oversight of capital and operational budget for specific socioeconomic
and policy formulation projects.
Deputise for the Deputy Head Sanitation operations as required.

**Essential Requirements**:
Relevant B.Tech plus registration as a Professional Technologist (Civil) with the Engineering
Council of South Africa (ECSA).
Valid motor vehicle drivers license (Code B).
6 Years relevant experience.

**Preferred Requirements**:
Relevant post graduate qualification.
8 Years relevant experience.
