Junior Dispatch Clerk

Star Merchant has an exciting opportunity available for a Junior Dispatch Clerk to be based in Umhlanga, Durban. The successful incumbent will be responsible for verifying items picked for accuracy. Assist with completing waybills if needed. Ensure achievement of company’s strategic objectives, goal plans and targets. Comply with all policies and procedures and strict adherence to internal controls. Ensure daily, weekly and monthly reporting is done accurately and timeously and contains appropriate content to enable effective decision making.

**Minimum requirements**:

- 1-year of experience in warehouse picking
- Computer Literate

**Advantageous**:

- Knowledge of South Africa Maps and Locations

**Responsibilities**:
**Financial Metrics/Operational Duties**
- Verify picked stock to the Picking Slip.
- Ensure the correct nature/description of stock and quantities are picked.
- Do not dispatch damaged stock. Keep the damaged stock aside, notify the warehouse supervisor and get the item re-picked.
- Ensure the stock is packed in the correct packaging materials to avoid damage and that packaging material is used in the most cost-effective manner with mínimal wastage.
- Ensure all packages are labelled correctly and sealed.
- Ensure all the correct documentation in the dispatching process are used and accurately completed i.e. details of locations, items, quantities etc.
- Ensure all stock being dispatched are recorded on the Delivery Note.
- Ensure the Delivery Note is attached to the packaged items.
- Keep all holding items in the designated areas.
- Assist with weekly stock counts to ensure variances are timeously identified and investigated.
- Assist with verifying monthly stock takes to ensure accuracy and timeous completion.
- Assisting with a variety of warehouse duties which includes walking, bending, lifting and carrying weights up to 50kg’s. Offloading and loading of goods. Weighing of goods.
- Warehouse housekeeping and administration are done accurately and timeously.
- Accurate preparation of waybills when required.
- Assist with any ad-hoc duties as required by management.

- Performance must be tracked by yourself and the onus is placed on you to set-up performance review meetings with the Warehouse Supervisor.
