Draughtsman, Mineral Processing Equipment

Reports to: Engineering Manager
Primary purpose is to perform the following:
1. Create and maintain product specific design and drawing information (Kawasaki, Hazemag, etc), and
2. Translate design information and specifications from engineers into Concept, Basic and Detail drawings.

Job description / core competencies:

- Quality Management:

- Follow engineering processes based on global best practices and relevant international standards. (ISO 9001, OHS Act, MHS Act of SA, company policies and procedures)
- Reviewing drawings and standards in accordance with BS308.
- Create drawings in accordance with BS308.
- Drawings:

- Follow Drawing Office Procedure: S01‐00150‐007‐01
- Create and maintain product specific design and drawing information:
i. Create drawings to company standards
ii. Maintain drawings to company standards

- Layout and interface to product
- Component and system changes/ modifications/ improvements

- Create manufacturing drawings
- Assist engineers in creating QRL’s
- Maintain drawing information

- Product Development Design (Concept, Layout, 3D Design and Modelling)
- Product Realisation - Manufacturing drawings (Create and Check)
- Engineering Management - Support Engineering (ECP, QIR, DR)
- Product realisation and Product Support - Support to Procurement

Limits of authority/ responsibility:
Information Systems:

- Use of standard office equipment
- Use of Microsoft Office packages for: e‐mail correspondence, electronic calendar; producing documents; compiling statistics, spreadsheets databases; presentations, producing organization charts.

Technical:

- Create and review design documentation with the assistance of engineers (Drawings, Specifications, QRL)Quality:

- Following strict procedures and processes dictated by ISO processes and company’s engineering procedures
- Dealing with general enquiries, deciding when to refer up.

- Internal: Engineering/ Drawing Department. All staff as required, across the organisation, at all levels.
- External: Manufacturers and Suppliers (for technical information).
- Tact and diplomacy are always required when dealing with confidential matters and staff issues/ concerns.

- Standard office environment
- Working across all sites/ departments
- May be required to travel from time to timeEffort:

- Lifting of documents/ files or boxes of records when archiving or storing.
- Seldom moving of furniture and stock

**Job Qualification & Experience**:

Draughtsman Certificate or Diploma
Minimum of 5 years’ experience
Excellent technical knowledge
Mechanical knowledge and experience
Knowledge and experience with CAD
