Excavator Operator

National Senior Certificate with Mathematics
- Relevant trade qualification will be an advantage
- Certificate of competence by an accredited service provider Knowledge / Experience:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in the Mining or Construction industry.
- Working knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulics systems.
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety procedures for working on mines and industrial site requirements. Core Competencies:

- Competent machine operator.
- Understands mechanical equipment and has a feeling for defensive operations.
- Natura drive for production targets.
- Clear communication skills - English - spoken and written.
- Able to keep focus on the task at hand and sticks to agreed plans. Responsibilities / Duties:

- Provides input into project execution plan re practical aspects related to the project
- Ensures that he understands the execution plan and that he is in agreement with the plan.
- Assists the Site Manager in establishing the site
- Ensures that all health and safety requirements are met with regards to the excavator and its operation
- Oversees the condition of the excavator and ensures that all malfunctions and/or anticipated problems are reported to the Site Manager and attended to in time
- Communicates with the Site Manager and Site Assistants on a continuous basis to plan ongoing dredging activities
- Operates the excavator in a responsible and sensitive manner
- Takes responsibility for all equipment under his authority
- Ensures that production targets are met
- Keeps good relations with the client representatives
- Understands the project intent and diligently works towards reaching that target
- Focused on project deliverables
- Keeps project administration up to date
- Willing to travel and work within South
- and Southern Africa for limited periods of time
- Executes daily maintenance routines on the excavator
- Adheres to all start-up, shut-down and maintenance procedures as a matter of routine
- Keeps track of machine servicing intervals and informs Site Manager of planned maintenance on time
- Sees to it that all equipment and tools are used as intended only and kept in a prime working condition at all times
- Assists with repairs under supervision of the Site Manager only in case of a breakdown of the equipment
- Manages all risks appropriately and actively partake in toolbox talks and risk assessments
- Provide suggestions for betterment of systems and plans to build a better, safer, more efficient business

**Salary**: From R25,000.00 per month
