The Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing safety plans, procedures, and policies to ensure the safety of all employees, contractors and visitors during the shutdown process.
**Key responsibilities may include**:
- Developing and implementing safety plans and procedures, including emergency response plans
- Conducting regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address any potential hazards
- Providing safety training and education to employees, contractors, and visitors
- Ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations
- Developing and implementing safety procedures for the use of equipment and machinery
- Investigating accidents and incidents and making recommendations to prevent future occurrences
- Collaborating with other departments to ensure safety is integrated into all aspects of the shutdown process
- Participating in incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis
- Keeping accurate records of safety performance and incidents
The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that the plant shutdown is completed safely, efficiently and on schedule. They would also need to have good knowledge of the petrochemical industry and the specific processes involved in the shutdown of a petrochemical plant.
