Purpose of the Role

The Social Worker will provide specialized psycho-social support to staff members through grief and trauma counselling, individual and group interventions, and referral management. The role focuses on restoring emotional well-being, strengthening coping capacity, and enhancing resilience in the workplace.

Key Responsibilities

1. Psycho-Social Support & Counselling
- Provide confidential individual counselling sessions to staff experiencing personal, emotional, or work-related distress.
- Facilitate grief, trauma, and crisis intervention sessions in response to staff bereavement, workplace incidents, or personal trauma.
- Conduct group debriefing and wellness sessions to foster peer support and collective healing.
- Support staff in developing coping strategies and self-care practices to manage stress and anxiety.

2. Case Management & Referrals
- Assess psycho-social needs and develop individual care or intervention plans.
- Identify cases requiring specialized support and facilitate referrals to psychologists, psychiatrists, or external wellness services.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case notes in compliance with POPIA and HPCSA/SACSSP guidelines.

3. Reporting & Data Management
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on service utilization, themes, and recommendations for management.
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of the wellness programme through qualitative and quantitative data.
- Provide feedback and insights to support continuous improvement of staff wellness initiatives.

4. Preventive & Developmental Activities
- Facilitate group workshops and awareness sessions on grief management, trauma recovery, stress, and emotional resilience.
- Collaborate with the wellness team to design and deliver holistic psycho-social interventions aligned with institutional culture.
- Participate in wellness campaigns and events that promote mental health and social cohesion.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (Master’s degree advantageous).
- Registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) and in good standing.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in trauma, grief, or psycho-social counselling,
- Experience in group facilitation, case management, and report writing.
- Knowledge of employee wellness, trauma-informed care, and community mental health.

Additional Requirements
- Must have own transport, mobile phone, and computer for field and remote work.
- Willingness to travel when required.

Pay: From R25 000,00 per month

Expected hours: No more than 45 per week
