Job Title: Technical Sales Support Area: Cape Town, WC A leading developer of connected, intelligent, transportation system solutions is looking for a Technical Sales Support person to assist in bridging the gap between the Engineering department and their US-based Sales Engineers. This role will need to overlap with the Atlanta office. Working hours are 10:00 to 19:00 approximately, office-based in Bellville. RESPONSIBILITIES, NOT LIMITED TO: Provide assistance to Sales team by troubleshooting technical issues, including setup and network configuration for new or existing distributors. Compile technical specifications on products for Sales purposes Create presentations for clients using data from reports Research and identify solutions to the business’ Device Portal, and configuration related software and hardware issues. Properly escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams such as the Applications Group and Engineering. Provide prompt and accurate feedback to Sales Engineers from requested tasks. Become the bridge of knowledge transfer between Sales Engineers and Applications Engineering. Document technical knowledge in the form of notes and manuals. Take ownership of the Sales Engineering issues reported and see the problems through to resolution. Handle simple configurations from the MSL. Review Indian Office work for Travel Safely maps/USDOT maps. Setting up Spreadsheets for routed IPS Set up alarms and alerts and check that they are operating correctly. Redoing all IP addresses for required projects. Maintaining checks on projects and providing daily summaries for the sales engineer especially when in development. Reviewing reports for Cities. Monitoring projects as needed REQUIREMENTS A relevant tertiary qualification Proven work experience as a Technical Support Engineer, Desktop Support Engineer, IT Help Desk Technician or similar role. Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal. Certification in Microsoft, Linux, Cisco or similar technologies would be a plus. Hands-on experience with Windows OS environments (Linux would be a plus). Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices and other tech products. Hands-on experience with networking (IP tables, subnetting, routing). Knowledge of VPN technology, specifically OpenVPN. Electrical/electronic understanding Be proactive, with a can-do attitude Have good accuracy and attention to detail Be an organised multitasker Capable of working independently A sense of urgency to handle important tasks in a timely manner. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
