Hvac and Refrigerator Technician

_**PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE**:_

General maintenance duties specialising in installations, repairs and maintenance of the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration units.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Conduct general maintenance and repairs on all HVAC and refrigeration units, as well as other general facility maintenance tasks.
- Diagnose common faults such as electrical issues, blocked filters, or thermostat malfunctions using basic diagnostic tools and multimeters.
- Replace standard components, including capacitors, contactors, belts, and other worn parts.
- Identify faults that require advanced technical intervention and promptly escalate to the Maintenance Manager.
- Troubleshoot and implement effective solutions to system issues.
- Connect refrigerant lines, electrical wiring, and drainage systems in compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Clean filters, coils, and condensate drains; monitor refrigerant levels and detect minor leaks.
- Lubricate moving parts and ensure timely replacement of worn or damaged components.
- Test and verify system performance; accurately document all service and maintenance activities.
- Provide support across all areas of the Maintenance Department, including tasks such as painting, carpentry, plastering, plumbing, and other general maintenance duties as required.

**QUALIFICATION**
- Grade 12
- ▪ Level 2-4 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, or equivalent.

**MINIMUM / PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE**:

- Understanding of refrigerant cycle principles.
- Basic electrical knowledge and safety practice.
- Ability to read technical diagram and service manuals.
- Competency with hand tools and basic diagnose equipment.
- Knowledge of South African electrical regulations (SANS).
- Interpreting drawings and other specifications.
