**The main purpose**: Lead all supply chain management (SCM) efforts for the company. Ongoing management of supply chain strategy and activity and ensuring optimal supplier performance and pricing. Develop and implement a strategy to ensure the function is operating in line with the objectives of the business to add value, mitigate supply chain risk and deliver cost savings.

Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships and manage the development of contracts, contractual relationships, and contract management to deliver continuous improvement in delivery of goods and services by the supply base. Lead and manage a team of SCM Practitioners to deliver the appropriate support to the business to ensure corporate and business development objectives are met. Work alongside the senior management team in contributing to overall business objectives.

**Reporting to the**: Chief Financial Officer

**Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to**:

Policy, procedures, systems and controls**
- Promote, monitor, assess and enforce compliance with established supply chain measures, including policies, regulations, norms and standards
- Review and amend SCM policies and procedures continuously to ensure alignment laws and regulations in force, for recommendation and approval by the Board of Directors
- Develop, implement and monitor procurement policies, performance standards and measurement metrics (performance management system)
- Monitor the performance of supply chain in respect of achieving ‘value for money’, service delivery and other company KPI’s
- Monitor supplier performance
- Develop and implement reporting and review systems for supply chain-related information/activities
- Analyze procurement data to identify unacceptable trends, provide recommendations and implement corrective measures
- Investigate/reviewing SCM systems/practices and recommend improvements as well as identifying any possible risk/non-compliance.
- Investigate complaints/accusations of procurement-related malpractices and facilitate interventions
- Establish required organizational and governance structures, and strategic networks for improved collaboration, accountability, and transparency
- Management of all year-end processes as well as internal and external audit requirements/requests relating to SCM

**2. People Management**
- Provide leadership to the department and staff within the structure. Coach, mentor and develop direct reports and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions
- Set department objectives and monitor ongoing progress and performance
- Ensures that staff members are properly trained to function effectively, and where needed, define the skills gap and training needs and activate procedural sequences aimed at developing and capacitating individuals
- Ensure strong communication between teams under leadership to facilitate exchange of information and to implement change and improvements
- Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
- Manage the attendance, conduct and performance of subordinates
- Establishing the adequacy and availability of personnel against agreed outcomes and, if needed, motivating to the CFO for additional resources.
- Provides “on the job” training for new recruits to the department and other role players in the SCM environment.
- Coordinates the various internal functions and activities of the section to ensure effective functioning.
- Ensures proper administration and cost and management accounting

**3. Demand analysis, planning and management**
- Interacting to clarify needs analysis with internal departments and investigating/assessing impacting variables (expenditure, commodity, and market/industry).
- Aligning need analysis outcomes to budgetary provision to establish and comment on costs versus allocations.
- Designing an annual procurement plan, known as the Demand Management Plan (DMP) for both operational and capital expenditure and submitting same to the CFO
