Our Company is looking to employ a suitably qualified person for the position of Health and Safety Officer

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Foster a health and safety culture of functional excellence which is conducive to and supports a productive and safe business and operational environment.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Review company operational processes to ensure they are in line with external safety legislations and develop / implement appropriate risk assessments in all areas of potential hazards.
- Develop and implement safety, procedures, and policies for the site.
- Monitor work processes and procedures to identify unsafe practices and provide recommendations.
- Conduct internal health and safety inspections to ensure adherence to legislative requirements.
- Audit safety files and address any deviations.
- Provide support to Management in preparation for external Occupational Health and Safety inspections.
- Attend timeously to recommendations and findings raised in safety audit reports.
- Carry out investigations to identify the root cause of an incidents and make recommendations to avoid the recurrence of such incidents.
- Implement an incident management system with to track and monitor safety incidents as and when they occur.
- Ensure that all relevant environmental authorizations, operating licenses/permits are applied for and are up-to-date and compliance to conditions is monitored.
- Ensure that health and safety representatives are adequately trained and that their certification is updated and conduct monthly safety meetings

**Desired Experience & Qualification**
- Diploma / Degree in Safety / Risk Management or related area.
- Minimum 3 years in an operational and manufacturing environment having worked in a health and safety role.
- Expert knowledge of relevant South African legislation, applicable OHS acts, Environmental regulations, ISO Standards and internal audits.
- Problem solving, analytical with an eye for detail.
- Ability to work in pressured and deadline driven operating environment.
- Valid driver’s licence and MUST be on stand-by for incidents that might occur afterhours.

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Cape Town, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
