Position Summary
The HR Generalist will be responsible for People development, training, ensuring compliance to company policies and procedures, developing and implementing employee wellness initiatives, reviewing compensation and benefits together with the Finance Manager and supporting line managers on matters around employee relations.
Key Responsibilities
KPA 1: General Admin & Reporting/ Payroll
- Ensures effective execution of human resources processes:
- Annual awards
- Mid year reviews
- Annual PEG process
- Employee development
- Ensure human resources policies and practices are relevant by keeping up to date with legislative changes as communicated by Company labor consultants
- Driver of the Company’s EE process and Plan (regular Employment Equity meetings and annual EE reporting)
- Ensure successful submission of the annual Workplace skills plan, together with the assigned Skills development facilitator
- Work closely with the HR clerk to ensure that all HR records (HR master file) are kept up to date
- Monthly report back meetings reporting on all HR matters to the senior management team of Support office
- Oversee new employee contracts compilation/ changes
- Ensure that all accredited learner administration is stored per SETA requirements and communicated to the relevant SETA’s as and when necessary
KPA 2: ER/ IR
- Maintains knowledge of HR policies, programs, laws and issues
- Work with Company Leader for CCMA representation and relationship building with Company Labour Consultant
- Attends annual wage negotiations with Company Labour Consultant and ensures that all negotiated agreements are accurately captured on payroll
- Work with Company Leader to provide sound advice on all IR matters and support unit managers with requests
- Oversee WCA matters
- Provide sound HR advice to external clients as and when required
KPA 3: Training
- Ensure new employees are Introduced to GERATEC by facilitating Induction training
- Driving the HR onboarding and orientation checklists for new managers and unit employees
- I.R Training for Unit Managers and partner with internal and external training providers for other training required
- Ensure that all training records are accurately stored for reporting purposes
- Upskill HR clerk on areas for personal development
KPA 4: Recruitment and Selection
- Maintain overall coordination of the Company’s recruiting, onboarding, development and promotion activities
Note: Strategic HR - Participate in the development of Company strategic plans with the Business Leader when required.
Position requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Human resources management
- Minimum of 3 years experience as an HR generalist
- Experience in a similar industry is advantageous
- Minimum of 2 years experience with the VIP payroll system
- Methodical and structured approach to tasks
- Attention to detail
- Operationally strong and hands-on
- Strong business acumen and the ability to establish trust and credibility at all levels of the Company
- Ability to manage rapid change
- A high level of interpersonal skills
- High sensitivity to the confidential nature of the work
