**Main duties and responsibilities**:

- Investigate queries received from the business and provide appropriate responses within the agreed time period
- Review material produced by business (for example marketing material, standard letters, training material etc.) and provide legal sign-off within the agreed time period
- Draft and review contracts
- Provide legal opinions to the business
- Investigate and deal with complaints received from the Long-term Ombudsman and the FAIS Ombud
- Conduct legal research: assisting the Legal Manager and Legal Advisors with research as and when required
- Assist the Group Executive: Legal & Compliance, legal manager and legal advisors, in particular in evaluating and interpreting legislation which affects the business, management of external legal resources including litigious matters and trademark issues
- Participate in various projects and assisting the legal manager and legal advisors with various project functions as and when required
- Provide general administrative services to the Legal department, for example management of shared mailboxes; allocation of work to Legal Advisors; upkeep of contracts and other registers, etc; and
- Perform any other function which the legal manager may deem appropriate

**Education**:

- Matric (Grade 12)
- LLB
- Preferably admitted as an attorney or admission imminent
- Preferably completed Practical Legal Training at an accredited law school
- Sound academic record

**Experience**:

- Minimum of 2 years post-articles experience in Insurance (Long-term or Short-Term) and/or Financial Services preferably at a large corporate or a bank, but alternatively in legal practice dealing with Insurance and/or Financial Services matters
- Experience working with Financial Services legislation for example Insurance Act, LTIA, STIA, FAIS, FICA, CISCA etc.
