Senior Specialist: Systems Analyst

**Position Purpose**

To liaise and coordinate activities between the customer and IT professionals to ensure system problems, enhancements and developments are resolved for the business in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures, including:

- Effective investigation of system problems and analysis of system enhancement requests
- Make recommendations on software solutions to be developed in order to meet business requirements
- Compile user requests into system requirements specifications
- Perform functional testing to ensure solutions implemented/developed will resolve issues and customer requests.

**Experience**
- 8 years relevant systems analyst experience, needs to be familiar with multiple varieties of programming languages, operating systems, and computer hardware platforms.

**Qualifications**
- 3 year degree/diploma in Information Technology and certification on relevant IT systems

**Accountabilities**

**Continuous improvement**:

- Design, solution, code, debug, analyse and correct programs to ensure business requirements are met
- New development, maintenance and support
- Analyse the effect of new functions on the existing system
- Compile test cases according to System Development Lifecycle methodology and conduct thorough in-house testing per operational procedure
- Implement practical solutions that use the specialist and departmental systems and processes
- Provide specialist input and recommendations to improve the efficiency, compliance and quality objectives related to the area of specialisation
- Identify problems and develop and propose solutions to present to appropriate leader or stakeholders
- Ensure day to day operational support required from area of specialisation is provided to enhance performance

- Support the identification, development and implementation of cost-effective processes to increase efficiency and reduce cost drivers related to area of specialisation
- Continuously review cost / benefit and Return on Investment within area of specialisation

- Ensure CPD (continual professional development) or similar accreditation requirements are met annually to ensure maintained specialist accreditation

- Provide Specialist expertise and ensure best practice related to specialisation is implemented in projects, when required
- Conform to project management disciplines when participating in projects
- Represent department or project on appropriate committees related to area of specialisation

- Experience with Agile Software Methodology and Sprint development
- Determine the root cause of queries logged and ensure that the issues are resolved effectively by understanding the impact of the problem,

coming up with a solution and providing timely feedback in accordance with the expected timelines.
- Provide an excellent service to the business by making recommendations that are aligned to business requirements and are implemented

effectively within the agreed timeframes.
- Coordinate testing efforts for all system changes and solutions implemented by firstly compiling and implementing comprehensive documentation relating to Test Plan and conduct post implementation review as part of SDLC cycle for each requirement.
- Take full responsibility for the operational processes through continuous monitoring against schedules and periodically reviewing processes to ensure overall operational efficiency and effectiveness at all times.
- Develop and implement cost effective proposed solutions (fixes) for incidents (P1-P5) in order to reduce overall costs within allocated time frame.
- Support the identification, development and implementation of cost-effective processes to increase efficiency and reduce cost drivers related to area of specialization within allocated timeframe.
