**PURPOSE OF THE JOB**:
This position is a skilled Area Leader with strong leadership qualities to lead a group of QC Inspectors and provides a support function to the Quality Manager and the Food Safety &Quality Coordinator.

**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS**:
**_
Oversee Raw Material Bulk (Work-In-Progress) and Finished Product Laboratory functions_**
- Maintain the work environment in a safe & orderly manner and ensure that staff abide by safety regulations
- Ensure correct input of data on PC & R and SAP systems, PCR Post Seasonal Reports
- Ensure that Control Documents for Raw material is correct, signed off and presented to Management daily.

**_ Ensure that analytical tests performed are correct, accurate and products comply with all specifications (Sensory and Physical)_**
- All products received, processed and packed must comply with agreed specifications
- Ensure that inspectors are using the correct methods to analyse products and that staff calibrations schedules are adhered to at all times.
- Act on Out-of Specification results.

**_ Ensure that non-conforming situations and products are communicated to piers and Management accurately and effectively._**
- Communicate products testing out of specification immediately to the relevant shift personnel and Management.
- Ensure non-conforming products are restricted.
- Communicate unacceptable situations in the plant wrt GMP’s Safety and Food safety concerns to the relevant staff timeously.

**_ Support Plant
- and Cleaning Personnel with Pre-start-up checks, including Food Safety Inspections as and when required._**
- Do Pre-start-up check in conjunction with Production, Packing, Engineering and Cleaning Personnel daily
- Carry out scheduled Food Safety Inspections self
- inspections on a weekly basis, including Glass & Hard Plastic control in all laboratory environments
- Problem solving in the Plant to ensure GMP’s are maintained

**_ Facilitate In-Plant Sensory sessions and Product Cuttings when required_**
- Ensure that staff are trained in procedures and that they apply

Specifications correctly
- Compile and update work instructions
- Ensure that staff are rostered and at work as required, including weekends and public holidays

**_ Lead subordinates_**
- Ensures fair labour practices are adhered to
- Maintains good relationship with peers, subordinates and colleagues
- Employee benchmarking and practical assessments carried out 6-monthly

**_ Ensure CCP Check sheets and Deviation Reports are filled in and filed_**
- Ensure that CCP checksheets are verified daily
- Ensure that a Deviation Report is filled in when a deviation from the HACCP/Food Safety Plan occurred
- Ensure data entered on SAP is correct and all non-conformances in the program logged and actioned.

**_ Assist QC Management with data collection and reporting_**
- Summarise shift activities and record
- Collect data from PC&R, SAP, Kronos, Internet for reports and projects
- Compile data for weekly reports as per Customer specified requirements, including QC

**_ Relief Quality Analysts if and when necessary_**
- Must be able to perform all sensory, analytical and physical tests and analyses to be able to stand in for any absentee

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
- BSc or Diploma in Food Science/Chemistry/Microbiology
- FSSC22000 Training / Experience in a FSSC22000 certified Food Safety System
- Previous experience in Food Industry within a Quality Control or Assurance environment
- Basic knowledge of regulatory requirements (LRA, BCEA, OHS Act)
