Main Purpose_**
- R&D scientist fulfilling an enabling role in support of the Wheat to Bread value chain for the SSA baking business. Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of customer requirements and develops functional formulations for existing and new products to meet these requirements. Develops flexible ingredient solutions which can be implemented across the value chain and which ensures flexibility to wheat and flour quality variations. Researches and leads programmes which continuously improve cost and quality performance and streamlines / enhances bread quality measurement and management whilst staying abreast of consumer and competitor landscape.**_Accountabilities_**
- _Understanding and establishment of the key final product metrics required to achieve the desired market leadership.
- _Translation of the above into suitably customised/ optimised ingredient solutions taking into consideration the various product recipes, typical processes and operational capabilities as well as wheat/flour quality variables.
- _Working closely with grist and milling functions to ensure changes in flour quality are adequately supported by ingredient solutions.
- _Researching latest ingredient technologies, comparing supply cost vs performance and formulating / continuously improving to meet quality and cost targets.
- _Support the Innovation team with ingredient solutions that deliver best performance e.g. Ensuring bread recipes which contain various unique ingredients for health, indulgence and any other purposes are well balanced in terms of improver systems.
- _Working closely with bakery technical team to troubleshoot and resolve quality and performance issues related to recipe.
- _Subject matter expert on recipe and formulation solutions, offer technical insights and support to internal and external customers, colleagues and teams._

Participate effectively on cross-functional teams with colleagues from Sales, Marketing, Operations, Technology, etc. as the needs of the project dictate._
