Master Installation Electrician

**Job responsibilities**:
**Assist with Planning and Monitoring**
- Plans electrical secondary system additions or modifications.
- Leads, guides, and/or trains other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques.
- Interpreting blueprints and drawing rough sketches when required.
- Reads, employs, and updates electrical panel schedules.
- Drawing up preventative maintenance measures and explaining these to clients and other electricians.
- Obtaining required permits, equipment, tools, and materials for projects.
- Updating project records and preparing relevant documents and reports for clients.
- Liaising with clients, vendors, and other electricians.
- Mentoring and coaching for IE and Artisans on MIE level installations.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

**Issuing of Certificate of Compliance**
- Issuing of COC’s for single phase electrical installations including hazardous areas, as well as three phase installations along with test reports.
- Provide protection for the following: Shock Current, Over Current, Fault Current, over voltage, Under Voltage, Excessive Temperatures, Electric Arcs.
- Complying with health and safety regulations according to The Occupational Health and safety Act, 1993 (Act No. 85 of 1993) (OHS Act)

**Performing Electrical Installations**
- Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.
- Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Installing, repairing, and servicing electrical systems.
- May perform work of lower-level electricians.
- Sourcing or fabricating replacement electrical components.
- Testing and troubleshooting systems.

**Performing an administrative function**
- Adheres to company policies
- Monitors and follow up on requisitions until items are delivered
- Ensure that the site instruction book is maintained
- Administers day works, site instructions and variation orders
- Maintains formal correspondence with clients and sub-contractors, i.e. E-mails.

**Performing Quality Control onsite**
- Ensures that tasks are completed correctly and to specifications on the first attempt
- Inspects all aspects of current work, tools and equipment for quality defects
- Enforces the company quality policy by conducting audits to ensure that the project is executed to the highest quality standards.
- Ensure that all artisans’ tools are calibrated and arrange for calibration with fleet department.

**Assist with Managing Health & Safety on Site**
- Assist with ensuring good housekeeping on sites
- Ensures that personal protective equipment is utilized and utilized correctly at all times
- Conduct toolbox talks and communicate risk assessments and method statements to employees
- Ensures compliance with safe working practices at all times in order to not to endanger the client, sub-contractors, public, staff and visitors.
- Ensures safety documents are kept up-to-date in project files
- Ensure all employees complies with company health & safety policies and procedures to ensure zero harm
- Providing assistance during emergencies.
