We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Grit Blaster to join our team in the petrochemical industry.
This position plays a vital role in surface preparation by using abrasive blasting techniques to ensure surfaces are properly cleaned and ready for coating or further processing.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Operational Tasks**:
- Set up and operate abrasive blasting equipment, ensuring it is maintained in optimal condition.
Prepare surfaces by cleaning, masking, and inspecting for contaminants before blasting.
- Adjust blasting parameters (e.g., pressure, media type, nozzle distance) to meet required surface profiles.
- Perform grit blasting to remove rust, scale, old coatings, and other contaminants from various surfaces.
- Inspect blasted surfaces for quality and conformance to technical specifications.
**Maintenance & Safety**:
- Conduct routine maintenance of blasting equipment, replacing worn or damaged components as necessary.
- Adhere to strict health and safety protocols, using appropriate PPE at all times during operations.
- Report any equipment faults or safety concerns promptly to the supervisor.
- Keep work areas clean and organized, ensuring safe handling and disposal of blasting materials.
**Administrative Tasks**:
- Maintain accurate records of daily blasting activities, including materials used, equipment status, and progress updates.
- Collaborate with team members to support efficient workflow and on-time delivery of project milestones.
**Minimum Requirements**:
- Proven experience as a Grit Blaster in the petrochemical, industrial, or heavy engineering sector.
- Petrochemical industry experience is advantageous.
- Sound knowledge of abrasive blasting techniques, equipment setup, and maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to inspect and evaluate surface preparation quality.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations in industrial settings.
- Physically fit and able to work in demanding site conditions.
- A valid driver’s license is advantageous.
**Preferred (Not Required)**:
- Certification in abrasive blasting or surface preparation.
- Experience with automated or specialized blasting systems.
- Exposure to working in refinery or fuel depot environments.
