You will be working as HSE Specialist and will be part of Electrification business area for Distribution Solutions division based in Longmeadow, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to Local Division Manager and will be responsible to implement health and safety policies, objectives, standards in accordance with legal guidelines and ABB internal regulations

**Your responsibilities**:

- Overseeing occupational health and safety working conditions while performing service work at the customer's site (several delegations per year)
- Implementation of internal audits as part of the OHS management system
- Overseeing the monitoring and updating of legislation and initiating the implementation of changes in the subordinate area of OHS
- Initiating work on assessing and updating occupational risks at workplaces, instructions and procedures for proceeding in the field of occupational safety and health and meeting legal requirements
- Identification of training needs and their planning and ensuring the implementation of training courses
- HSE related administration and reporting
- Ensuring compliance with the guidelines of the Management Systems (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001)
- Engaging external stakeholders (e.g., customers, suppliers and other stakeholders) and internal stakeholders to report, raise awareness and gain commitment to safety, and obtain objective feedback

**Your background**:

- Preferably 3 years of experience working in a health and safety department (preferably in a manufacturing plant)
- Education in the field of occupational safety and health as required by South African law and required education with a technical profile
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations in the field of occupational safety and health
- Knowledge of production processes operating in the company
- Ability to work in a team and with people at different levels in the organization, independence in initiating activities, making decisions, overcoming problems and ability to plan and organize own work
- Knowledge of the English language to enable free communication
