**What We're Looking For**:
The Senior Director, Learning Experience is responsible for leading and managing the short course Learning Experience Team, which consists of a Learning Design unit and an Editing unit. This includes providing vision and direction for learning design as a function within the short course Learning Division. The role provides high-level oversight of new course development and existing course maintenance, as well as team capacity and allocations, guides and approves the design of new courses, maintains a defined level of quality control as it relates to the development of courseware, ensures ongoing training and development of the team, remains up-to-date with current industry trends, and leads the testing of new approaches to course design and development.

**Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To**:

- Manage the scope and scalability of course design, development and iteration approaches while driving quality student outcomes, in collaboration with other production and presentation functional leaders.
- Assume full responsibility for the management of the Learning Experience - 5020 budget to meet business objectives, including adhering to reporting and compliance requirements.
- Oversee the allocation and distribution of work within the team and liaise with Operations and Finance to ensure sufficient resources and support to enable the sustainable growth of the Learning Design and Editing units.
- Maintain quality control systems within the team to ensure every team member has a clear understanding of the level of quality that is expected. This includes the maintenance of existing departmental processes, the development of new departmental processes, and collaborating on cross-functional processes as and where necessary.
- In addition, ensure that pedagogical strategies are evidence-based and current by conducting ongoing research, remaining up-to-date with the online education industry, and supporting the development of 2U's reputation as a leader in online education.

The role requires a solutions-oriented approach in a fast-paced environment, as well as a forward-looking focus on improving systemic issues. The Senior Director, Learning Experience is required to understand complex and shifting processes and organisational structures, and lead and set direction effectively within them.
- University degree required.
- Minimum 7 years' work experience.
- Minimum 3 years in a people management position.
- Hands-on experience in learning design and/or instructional design roles (online and higher education experience preferred).
- Strong lateral thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.
- A high level of confidence and professionalism, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage a budget and make responsible financial decisions in line with business objectives.

- Teamwork is critical to achieving success in this role. You will need to establish strong relationships with leaders across the team and within your own division.

- Things change all the time. You will find yourself being pulled in many directions and it is up to you to either sink or swim.
- Learning Design has the ability to affect the utilisation of all other resources in the Learning Division when there are delays in projects. The root cause of delays should always be identified and problem-solved.
- Projects are internationally focussed, which involves managing remote team members.
- Working with tier one universities requires world-class standards. Learning Design approaches need to be evidence-based and rooted in research to impress faculty and school leadership.
- Learning Designers work with impressive faculty members, and they need to make a good impression, manage relationships well and be functionally excellent.
- Managing the scope and quality of projects can be challenging as these are often in tension with one another.
- Online education is an emergent field. The Senior Director, Learning Experience needs to have an informed view of online education trends, which involves becoming immersed in reading, publishing, thinking and dreaming all things online education.
