Gem Schoolwer based in Morningside, Durban has an opening for a drivers assistant / general assistant.

The drivers assistant is responsible for assisting the driver in delivering goods to customers/branches/suppliers, maintaining accurate delivery records, loading and unloading goods, and ensuring the smooth operation of the delivery process.

The role requires effective communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Job is full time - Monday to Friday and half day on Saturday
- **Duties and Responsibilities**_
- **Delivery Assistance**:

- Help the driver with the safe and timely delivery to customers.
- Unload, organize, and stack products at customer locations, ensuring correct product delivery and handling.
- **Loading and Unloading**:

- Assist with the loading and unloading of products from the vehicle, ensuring all goods are secured properly.
- Ensure that all stock is checked for accuracy and condition before loading and after unloading.
- **Customer Interaction**:

- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients during deliveries.
- Ensure all customer instructions and delivery requests are followed accurately.
- Address customer queries and assist with any issues related to deliveries.
- **Vehicle Maintenance & Safety**:

- Ensure the vehicle is washed, clean, well-maintained, and loaded in an organized manner.
- Ensure the vehicle is properly secured when loading/unloading and check that all safety procedures are followed.
- **Documentation & Reporting**:

- Assist in completing delivery paperwork (e.g., delivery notes, invoices, returns).
- Ensure all products are correctly signed for and that documentation is accurate.
- Report any discrepancies in deliveries or damages to the Driver or Manager
- **Health and Safety Compliance**:

- Adhere to all health and safety regulations related to product handling, lifting, and vehicle operation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements regarding transportation.
- **General**:

- Move boxes/fabric rolls in warehouse (Lots of physical activity)
- Support office operations by performing general administrative tasks as needed
- Handle errands and other tasks as assigned by management

**Requirements**:

- 2 Years experience in delivery driving, warehouse operations, or logistics is an advantage
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to speak fluent English
- Ability to handle physical tasks (e.g., lifting, unloading).
- Attention to detail and accuracy in stock management and delivery documentation.
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team.
- Must have completed matric/Grade 12
- Proactive and show initiative
- Must be neat and presentable at all times

Daily wage rate: R232.00 per day

Pay: R232,00 per day
