**Purpose of the Job**: Develop, improve, and modify successful products for Pie in the Sky's target markets in close collaboration with marketing and branding. This includes both consumer-initiated and in-house innovation to ensure that the products are produced to efficiency and quality standards and will excite customers, which will propel the product's success in the market. In order to identify areas for improvement at the key criteria level (look and feel, transportability, taste, production efficiency, etc.), monitor products during production, dispatch, and consumer interfaces. Then, as agreed upon with the marketing and QA officer, make necessary adjustments, test and refine the product until it is manageable, and follow through development stages methodically. **Key Performance Areas and Key Responsibilities**: 1. New Product Development systematic processes, including product changes & refinements, to serve customer/ consumer needs. 2. Conduct research into different baked products that may fit into the Pie in the Sky targeted market. 3. To constantly monitor products performance in production through observation and analysis, and identify areas for improvement. 4. To consider product innovations, by identifying different variants of existing products, integration of certain products towards new possibilities. 5. Develop in alignment with production & marketing, the products "test kitchen", where new variants, innovations and refinements can be tested and perfected prior to final considerations for larger production test runs. 6. Liaise with and support production and quality assurance in the implementation of the new product on the line, addressing all change aspects for processes, recipes, staff-based practices. 7. Assist production/supply chain in problem solving and continuous improvements, by analysing issues raised. 8. To inform training modules and programmes targeting induction, development and best practice entrenchment. Coach staff on the floor against training material, reminding and enforcing. 9. Data capturing, records, processing and reporting requirements. **Key Competencies**: 1. Understand the principles of baking, ingredients, processes. 2. Understand and know how to use different processes and approaches to product making and baking. 4. Understand the processes and principles of sound project management. 5. Able to communicate verbally and in written formats in various quality, production and related situations **Minimum Requirements**: 1. A practically oriented qualification e.g. AIB Baker Certification or 3 years accredited artisan training, or similar. 2.
