**Main purpose of position**

Release is looking for a **Junior Engineering Draftsman**to be based in Cape Town, South Africa and be part of our global team. The Junior engineering draftsman function is responsible for supplying design and drafting services to projects. The primary mandate of the junior engineering draftsman is to produce the design and drafting deliverables required by project(s) and drive any technical reviews of such deliverables. A junior engineering draftsman is involved in all stages of the project lifecycle, that is from the opportunity phase (DG0) to the power production phase (DG5). Within the function, a junior engineering draftsman reports to the Senior Engineering Draftsman (as operational and functional line manager) and within a project to the Technical Development Lead or the Project Engineering Lead (depending on the phase of the project). The junior engineering draftsman works closely with the rest of the implementation team as well as the site teams.

**Main responsibilities**:

- ** Design and drafting function**: Together with the Senior Engineering Draftsman (SED), proactively plan, manage and produce project and product engineering drafting design and drawing deliverables according to the Release Operating System process, the Release Master Document List of deliverables and as per the specific requirements of the project
- ** Participate in project handovers**:Under the facilitation of the Project Engineering Lead and Senior Engineering Draftsman, actively assist in the efficient technical handovers between various project phases
- ** Technical support to project teams**: With regards to the drafting design deliverables, provide day-to-day technical support, training and guidance to project teams, including the project managers, construction managers, site personnel and the quality control function
- ** Coordinate technical reviews**:With regards to the drafting design deliverables, manage the review process for all of the deliverables produced by the drafting and design function
- ** Reporting to management**:To regularly report on project technical deliverables and their status, challenges, bottlenecks, risks and opportunities to the Senior Engineering Draftsman

**Important role interfaces**:Engineering**:

- Daily interaction and alignment with the Engineering Draftsman with regards to daily tasks and priorities.
- Project Engineering: Regular interaction and alignment with project implementation team (and site teams) on drawing and design deliverables.
- Product Engineering: Ad-hoc interaction and alignment with product engineering lead on drawing and design deliverables related to the product and system design.

**Technical Development**:

- Interaction with the TDM function will entail preparing drawing and design deliverables during the opportunity and feasibility phases of projects.

**Project Site Teams**:

- Interaction with the project’s site teams entail the continuous technical support throughout the installation phase of projects.

**Document control**:

- Document control interface to align on the control of project engineering deliverables, including reviews, transmittals, etc.

**Technical Asset Management**:

- Interaction with the Technical Asset Management function will revolve around participating in effective technical handovers at the power production phase

**Qualifications and competencies**
- ** Education**: Drafting qualification (MDDOP or similar)
- ** Experience**: 2+ Years Drafting experience (Academic project portfolio can be used)
- Language: Fluent both written and spoken in English
- Valid driver's license and passport
- Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD software suite (Civil3D would be advantageous)
- Good MS Office Suite software knowledge and good working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat (or similar PDF app)
- General understanding of the procurement and construction processes
- Familiarity of Microsoft SharePoint and document management
- Familiarity with project management tools (project planning) and methodologies
- Basic understanding of electrical engineering
- Basic understanding of civil engineering
