Our client is a listed pan-African investment, savings, insurance and banking group investing in local and global markets. Their focus is on delivering sustainable long-term returns for their clients, while being responsible stewards of the assets they manage.

They are seeking a Head of Investment and Quant Research who will form part of a broad team with exposure to all aspects of investment research across the risk/return spectrum. A key deliverable will be building out the investment research as well as investment processes and infrastructure. A verifiable track record with 15 or more years of experience in a quantitative finance field, having coded predictive models, across asset classes, in various scripting languages will enable you to excel in this role.

Skills requirements are:

- Master’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
- Deep experience in, understanding of, and passion for Financial Markets.
- Deep understanding of quantitative techniques, portfolio optimisation, risk & cost management.
- Experience in the assimilation of large amounts of quantitative and qualitative financial data, signal generation, testing, model validation, trade execution and cash management methodologies, portfolio construction, and rebalancing techniques, as well as risk management, reporting and visualization - all from first principles.
Deep experience as a senior investment research analyst / head of research.
- Experience working collaboratively in a multi-capability team
- Demonstrable ability to separate what works from what doesn’ti.e. to compare and contrast investment processes with best-in-class.
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, R is required.
- Ability to understand and implement sound econometric concepts in different scripting languages.
- Knowledge of various statistical and mathematical techniques as well as data science.
- Ability to generate ideas, think logically and do the required research.
- Ability to manage complex processes and focus on business outcomes in a complex uncertain environment
- Functional background in version control, Github with LFS, TortoiseGit, CLI
