**Environmental Officer - Mining - Namibia**

Our client, in the mining industry, is seeking for a dedicated and experienced Environmental Officer who is passionate about preserving the environment and has the expertise to ensure responsible mining practices - to join their team.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- The incumbent will be responsible to develop, implement, monitor, review, measure progress of and report on the environmental management programme.
- Ensure compliance to legislative requirements and safe environmental procedures.
- Collate all environmental monitoring and measurement information and report on progress monthly.
- Carry out and coordinate environmental audits.
- Work with business partners and project managers/leads to resolve day to day environmental related issues.
- Track environmental performance, analyze key risks and highlight in advance.
- Identify and assess impacts related to the construction, operation and decommissioning of the project in accordance with IFC guidelines, Namibian Legislation and prescribe mitigation strategies for significant impacts.
- Obtain required environmental clearance.

**Experience and Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Management, Biological Sciences or Physical Sciences or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the mining industry.
- Experience in projects environment would be highly advantageous.
- Solid knowledge of applicable Namibian legislation.
- Should posses excellent Proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Driver’s licence.

**Salary**: Market Related
