Race Coast KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a detail-driven, proactive Food Stock Controller to support our expanding Food & Beverage operations. This role is essential in ensuring accurate food stock control across kitchens, storerooms, race day operations, and event environments—directly contributing to our high standards and operational excellence.
**About the Role**
The Food Stock Controller is responsible for the efficient management, tracking, and reconciliation of all food stock across Race Coast KZN operations. This includes ensuring food safety standards, minimising wastage, supporting Cost of Sales (COS) reporting, and enabling smooth kitchen production planning. The role plays a vital part in maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring our culinary teams have what they need to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
**What You’ll Do**
You will oversee key stock control processes, including:
**Food Receiving, Verification & Documentation**
- Receive and verify food deliveries for quantity, quality, pricing, and paperwork accuracy.
- Maintain accurate receiving logs, GRVs, and internal control documents.
- Escalate discrepancies to Procurement, Finance, and F&B leadership.
**Stock Storage, Rotation & Issuing Controls**
- Ensure storerooms, fridges, and freezers meet food safety and operational standards.
- Issue stock to kitchen teams based on approved requisitions.
- Monitor temperatures, expiry dates, and product integrity**.**
**Stock Counting, Reconciliation & Cost Reporting**
- Conduct daily spot checks and weekly counts.
- Lead month-end stocktakes and investigate variances.
- Support recipe costing, waste reporting, and yield analysis.
**Event & Race Day Stock Control**
- Allocate stock based on menus and forecasts.
- Track movement of high-consumption items during events.
- Complete post-event reconciliations and reporting.
**What You’ll Need**
- 2-3 years’ experience in food or hospitality stock control.
- Strong numerical and reconciliation abilities.
- Solid knowledge of food handling, storage, and rotation standards.
- Proficiency in Excel and stock control systems.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills.
- Clear communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure during high-volume event periods.
- Willingness to work night shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Physically fit to work in kitchen and storeroom environments.
